Waxahachie Shape-Note Singings
(next is Jan. 6, 2009)

We sing from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday evening. Our location is the Five Twelve College Tea House, a restaurant business in a large 1900-era building at 512 North College St. Singers are urged to arrive by 6:20 or 6:25.

Plenty of parking is available by the side of the building down the driveway, or on the street. Singers need to use the side entrance adjacent to the parking area. Open the door, look immediately to your left and there is the singing room -- in the back of the building. We sing from The Sacred Harp (1991 revision).

The room for our singing is generously provided by the restaurant operators.

Our singing location is five blocks north of the courthouse square. College is the street on the east side of the square. Find the courthouse and you can find us!

Share the joy and bring a friend to the next singing.
Newcomers and listeners welcome.

SONGBOOKS? NO PROBLEM!

We have loaner copies of The Sacred Harp for use during the singings, primarily so newcomers can take part , and so families only need to own one songbook -- bring your one book, and your family members who also sing can use a loaner!

Folks who plan to sing with us regularly can buy a songbook from us at half the price we pay for the books, by the box. We subsidize the book purchases as one way to help increase participation in our singings. We pay $17.25 per book at the box rate. We will sell you a book for $8.50 if you intend to sing with us in Waxahachie on these Tuesday evenings. Owning a songbook and singing out of it at home is very helpful for newcomers to Sacred Harp!

This special half-price offer may be withdrawn in a few months after we are better-established. But even $17.25 is a bargain for what this book contains.
